What are the responsibilities and job description for the OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, DEPARTMENTS OF MENTAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES position at Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center?
Responsible for evaluation and Occupational Therapy services to individuals as ordered by physician. Provide back-up services for those individuals whose primary therapist is absent from this facility. Provide treatment and consultation in the areas of motor function and development, activities of daily living, oral-motor dysfunction and dysphagia. Also assess the need for adaptive equipment, seating and positioning systems and therapy intervention as needed.
Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three (3) percent in exchange for five (5) hours per month of the Personal Leave.
This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in-person only.
Temporary state housing may be available for those relocating to fill hard to recruit positions. Housing assignments and rates will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements.

Typical Working Conditions: Ongoing interaction with individuals in various settings (acute, sub-acute, skilled nursing and behavioral intervention), and work with related personnel. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. May require use of computers.
Physical Demands: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
