The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the city towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts. The New York City Department of Correction is seeking a Stock Worker II to perform duties in the Central Warehouse Operations Division and the Nutritional Services Division (NSD). Duties include but are not limited to following:
- Performing physical and administrative duties involved in the shipping, receiving and order fulfillment of
- Receiving, storing, distributing and caring for materials, supplies and equipment.
- Loading and unloading of supplies/equipment; as well as timely distribution of stock goods for program
- Checking materials received against invoices and noting any discrepancies in quantity.
- Inspecting and checking materials and cartons for proper identification and damages.
- Participates in ongoing continuous process improvement programs and identifying ways to increase
- Ensuring that all requisitions are addressed in a timely manner.
- Keeping storage facilities and materials clean and orderly.
- Keeping records and assisting in preparing inventories.
Preferred Skills:
- Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.
- Certification for Forklift, Hi-Lo and Electric Pallet Jacks.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B preferred but not required.
