The Oregon Department of Corrections is hiring for a Dentist at the Snake River Correctional Institution (SRCI) in Ontario, Oregon. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and could be used to fill future vacancies.
About the Job – Your Role
You will provide professional chairside dental procedures, consistent with community standard in a correctional setting to an adult in custody population. You will adhere to established time frames for procedures.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
You must have a current unencumbered Dentist's license issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry at the time of appointment.
The department prefers that licensees have had no previous discipline with the Oregon Board of Dentistry, or with Boards of any other states.

- Previous service within an oral and maxillofacial internship program and/or extensive experience performing oral surgery procedures (excluding complicated third molar impactions)
- Previous experience working as a dentist in corrections

Working Conditions
This position is located inside Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario. Adults in custody may become physically and verbally abusive and assaults and disturbances may occur. Contact with adults in custody during treatment, consultation, or supervision may take place out of visual range of security staff. Vigilance and awareness are required to maintain a non-threatening environment. May have exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases, radiation, and other hazards inherent within a health care and correctional setting.

About the Process – What to Expect

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
