Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general and cosmetic dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained.
- Take and develop X-rays and other medical imaging as required, ensuring proper safety protocols for patients and staff.
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, and ensuring accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care and dental terminology to promote understanding and comfort.
- Maintain sterilization protocols and ensure all dental equipment is properly cleaned and prepared for use.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and assisting with billing or coding when necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a smooth workflow and exceptional patient experience.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; familiarity with medical coding is a plus.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate X-ray machines safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D scanners is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients about procedures and post-care instructions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
