Finance Supervisor - Data Analytics

Position Summary

Data Analytics supervision of staff and work capacity.  Organizational functional support for financial data reflective in various systems to ensure the financial integrity of data is maintained. Communication on system functional support and on going project support for these systems. Supervise, plan, and organize the work of Finance, contract support, and data analytics professionals Monitor compliance with internal control policies, organizational policies and legal requirements. System oversight including contract data elements, system posting financial or other relied upon data into the financial system of record, review of data governance for contracts and financial reporting data from the financial system. Ensure the financial system correctly reflects the financial data, collaboration with the IT division for data posted into the financial system from other systems. Collaboration with IT for reporting platforms for validation of financial data correctly represented in the reporting platform. Provide leadership in projects or support to management and other areas in organization-wide initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.

• Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversight of the Denver Water data analytics section within accounting, including contract controls, expense management, and financial system functional support
• Responsible for ensuring the financial system correctly reflects the financial data and collaborating with the IT division for data posted into the financial system from other systems
• System oversight including contract data elements and any system posting financial or other relied upon data into the financial system of record, review of data governance for financial reporting data from the financial system.
• Provide contract governance oversight and systematic support.
• Assist with compliance to policies and procedures for contracts, including but not limited to spending authority. Provide system support for the contracting process and retention into RDA.
• Governance with ERP & HCM systems as needed. Provide continuous improvement guidance for processes, accounting related reporting, and the annual external audit.
• Collaboration with IT for reporting platforms for validation of financial data correctly represented in the reporting platform Provide leadership in areas of administration of financial duties.
• Responsible for managing service provider contracts, including leading competitive bids for such service on a regular basis.
• Provide cost benefit analysis for projects across the organization.
• Responsible for analyzing financial information for multiple finance functions.
• Develop and analyze financial transactions, identify areas where additional accuracies and efficiencies can be achieved, and provide analysis of monthly comparison reports.
• Develop and implement guidelines and systems in accordance with the organization's policy. Coordinate year-end and monthly closing processes.
• Maintain system of accounts. Report, analyze, and ensure integrity of all financial information. Preserve procedural and system documentation records.
• Perform related work as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Must complete required HIPAA training within the first 6 months of hire.
