About This Job

Creates positive relationships between the District and its community of families, developing understanding of how the public education system works. Builds the capacity of newly arriving families so that they feel well prepared with the knowledge they need to confidently enter the US school system, the District and support their students to thrive. Engages families in the health, safety, and education of their children. Facilitates a productive, two-way dialogue around the issues and concerns that are important to families.

What You'll Do

  • Acts as a liaison and facilitates communication between family, school community and/or department
  • Organizes family involvement activities, workshops and classes utilizing best practices and providing information and resources to families in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Works with school leadership to manage relationship between school and family community
  • Streamlines and expedites the enrollment, identification and registration processes for newcomer and immigrant families
  • Assists families with information about school and community resources
  • Eases the integration into District schools for those families who are new to the community and have unique needs; helps families to navigate through district systems and structures and empower them to access the supports they need to be successful
  • Researches and develops materials for use in family/volunteer training.
  • Assists families in navigating, troubleshooting, problem solving on behalf of their child as they work with district resources and school staff.
  • Provides the wraparound services and supports that newcomer and immigrant families need including families education and engagement; workforce development supports; mental health services; and basic needs and resources including food and clothing, school supplies, backpacks, and uniforms.
  • Ensures that families are communicated with and receive information in their home language as well as have access to a breadth of wraparound services through existing and future district systems

What You’ll Need

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Bilingual/Multilingual required
  • Two to three years of experience in community development and family advocacy
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
