Mathematics Tutor - Elementary Grades

Position Overview

We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Elementary Math Tutor to provide individualized mathematics instruction in a private tutoring office. The ideal candidate will enjoy working directly with students, identifying areas of need, building confidence, and helping students develop strong foundational math skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one math tutoring to elementary-age students.
• Assess students' strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
• Develop individualized tutoring plans based on each student's needs and goals.
• Reinforce classroom instruction, homework skills, and foundational mathematics concepts.
• Teach concepts using clear explanations, hands-on activities, visual strategies, and other appropriate methods.
• Help students develop problem-solving, reasoning, and independent-learning skills.
• Track student progress and communicate observations and recommendations to parents.
• Adjust instruction based on student progress and learning style.
• Create a positive, encouraging, and engaging tutoring experience.
• Maintain a professional and organized tutoring environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of elementary mathematics concepts.
• Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or experience working with children preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, encouraging, and able to build positive relationships with students.
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts in simple, age-appropriate ways.
• Ability to work independently and tailor instruction to individual students.
• Reliable, professional, and dependable.
• Teaching certification is preferred but not required for this tutoring position.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30.00 per hour
