Position

Teaching Social Studies at DJHS requires that the teacher be a facilitator as the students make connections between their world and surroundings and history and context.  Critical thinking is a skill that all students should have and develop, and an active social studies curriculum only aids in making this flourish.  To view the world through a different lens, to understand the past, to make sense of the role of government to create aware citizens that are curious and critical of the world around them - this is the task of the social studies teacher.
