High School Bible Teacher Job Description
Purpose of Position: Denver Christian High School Teachers are student-focused professionals who fulfill the mission of DCHS as the most significant school-related influence on student learning. DCHS teachers are supported and empowered through a shared vision of learning to foster a school culture of academic excellence and spiritual growth where learners flourish. DCHS’s Bible program is focused on equipping students with Biblical literacy that focuses on the historical & culture context, helping students to understand how to read the Bible, as well as Worldview and Apologetic competency. The Bible teacher is a guide for students to apply the Bible to everyday life, resulting in the development of a resilient faith in order to impact the world for Christ. This is accomplished through collaboration with the high school Bible team to teach all grade levels (9-12) together.

- Reports To: Head of High School Evaluated By: High School Principal
- Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BS/BA in Education, Biblical Studies, or related field. Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies or related field (preferred)
- Classroom teaching experience and/or a teaching license is preferred.
- Professing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with Him.
- In agreement with the Denver Christian High School Statement of Faith.
- Develop competency in contextual hermeneutics and biblical-cultural interpretation.
- Demonstrate growth in both academic understanding and personal discipleship
- Regularly attends and is actively involved in a church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy (doctrine, faith, teaching, practice).

- Demonstrates expertise in a given content or subject area as well as knowledge of the standards, learning targets, and appropriate materials for the student age and content area
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies and assessment practices to deepen the learning for each student.
- Solicits feedback from students to self-reflect on their own teaching, set goals for improvement, and grow in the craft of teaching.
- Possesses knowledge about the cognitive, emotional, and social development of learners including how students learn at any given developmental level, how students progress in a certain subject area, awareness of individual needs and abilities, how to tailor instruction to meet each learner’s needs, and how to assess learning appropriate for the age and content area.
- Serves as a collaborative, productive team member who participates in Christian professional learning communities, school events, department meetings, and other committee work that enhances the experience for faculty and students at Denver Christian.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching a variety of High School Bible classes that foster Biblical literacy and developing and implementing Bible curriculum. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to contextual biblical interpretation (historical, cultural, geographical, literary, thematic), a love for students, strong relational skills, and the ability to address complex faith questions with clarity, grace, and age-appropriate depth.
Posted salary is based on years of experience and education level.
Qualifications:
- Secondary Teacher's License
- BA in Secondary Education, Religious Studies, Bible, or related field
- MA in Education or related field preferred
