The Assistant Department Supervisor performs managerial work overseeing administrative procedures and functions of the department.
Examples of Duties
Assists with employee hiring, training, and supervision of department staff.
Utilizes computer-driven data entry equipment to create and modify files.
Answers phones and assists the general public with questions as necessary; responds to e-mails and written correspondence as necessary; handles complaints as necessary.
Performs duties of the Department Supervisor in their absence.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Oversees and manages the daily operations for service locations of the Denton County Tax Office including but not limited to; strictly monitoring schedule to ensure proper coverage, working with Admin to set schedules that maximize the number of clerks in seats during peak hours, monitoring and maintaining service times.
Provides instruction as to procedures and administrative policies regarding outside staff; addresses procedural and administrative questions as necessary. Assists in the implementation of new programs, policies, procedures, and training of subordinates.
Monitors and adjusts a queuing system, calendar, and schedule for the service locations of the Denton County Tax Office to ensure staffing is properly allocated to customer needs, ensuring lower customer wait and service times.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of all daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports of monies collected secured motor vehicle inventory and employee time of the service locations of the Denton County Tax Office.
Assists with daily preparation of bank deposits.
Utilizes computer-based software and programming to perform and instruct motor vehicle and property transactions in service locations of the Denton County Tax Office. Supervises and instructs subordinates in these same tasks.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and minimum of three years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Specific certifications related to the area of assignment may be required for this position.
