Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorations, root canals, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, accurately documenting medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards to uphold safety in the dental clinic environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with expertise in chairside assisting across general dentistry and specialized fields such as prosthodontics or pediatrics.
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining proper safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team—including dental receptionists—and provide compassionate patient care.
