We are seeking a Financial Controller to join our Executive Team and play a key role in driving financial strategy and operational excellence within our growing multi-specialty dental organization.
Position Overview:
The Controller is responsible for the financial leadership, strategy and long-term fiscal health of Dentistry Just for Kids, TK Orthodontics, and Elite Smiles Dental. This role oversees financial planning, accounting, revenue cycle management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance across all practice locations.
FINANCIAL PLANNING
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the organization’s growth goals.
- Prepare annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts.
- Monitors performance against budget and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Analyze production, collections, and overhead ratios.
- Presents clear financial reports to ownership and leadership.
- Advises ownership on profitability, cost control, capital investments and risk management.
- Provides financial modeling and analysis to support expansion and acquisitions.
ACCOUNTING
- Enter all transactions and reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, loans) in QuickBooks to prepare financial statements for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Analyze and discuss financial statements with Ownership as well as identifying areas for improvement.
- Oversite and management of general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable.
- Leading the budgeting process, analyzing budget-to-actual variances, and providing financial forecasts for decision-making.
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls to mitigate risk and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Monitoring cash balances and managing banking relationships.
- Review and negotiations of fee schedules, contracts, or agreements with outside vendors
- Oversees credentialing Doctors with health insurance companies.
- Manage internal and external relationships. Coordinate with external CPA firm for all tax compliance needs and preparation. Communicate and collaborate with outside professional team as the Practice grows. (CPA, Attorney, Lender, Other).
GENERAL
- Requires a commitment to learn our Practice and how we work to better serve as a valuable resource to our Owners, internal and external professional team.
- Works well in demanding environment that includes multiple interruptions, managing requests from the team, and meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with the Owners and practice directors to improve inefficiencies, policies, procedures within our Practices.
- Supervising and mentoring staff within the finance and accounting department.
- Be an integral part of executive decision making and long-term planning.
Work Environment: Oversee multiple practice locations within the Terre Haute community, with periodic travel between locations Collaborate closely with Owners, Associate Doctors, Administrative and Clinical Directors and Executive Team.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA Preferred
Experience: 5-7 years’ experience as a Controller

Salary Range: $110,000-$135,000/year

Requirements:
Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills
Confident in written and verbal communication
Proficient in QuickBooks and/or Sage, Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word)
Ability to manage external and internal relationships.
General knowledge of business tax
Advanced knowledge of payroll and payroll taxes
Adept at multi-tasking
Works with minimal supervision
Experienced in managing multiple deadlines and prioritizing workload.
