We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. You will assist the orthodontist with various tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in our clinic. A strong understanding of dental terminology, chairside assisting, and infection control practices is essential for success in this position. Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Take and develop X-rays as needed, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Utilize EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and record-keeping. Manage patient records, including medical histories and vital signs, while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Operate 3D scanners for imaging purposes as required in orthodontic treatments. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a positive patient experience in both pediatric dentistry and general dentistry settings. Experience Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental clinic role is preferred. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical imaging, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices is essential. Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, along with knowledge of medical coding and documentation processes is advantageous. Background in pediatric dentistry or experience working with children is a plus. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team are critical for this role.
