Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled dental hygienist to join our dental practice on a part-time basis, working 2 to 4 days per week. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental hygiene, with expertise in patient care, infection control, and dental procedures. Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, ensuring the removal of plaque and tartar.
• Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and medical histories to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Assist dentists during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of patient visits.
• Maintain sterilization standards for dental equipment and implement infection control measures in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and preparing treatment areas.
• Review medical records for completeness and accuracy, ensuring proper documentation of procedures and patient information.
• Uphold patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and practice policies.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes.
• Strong knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and techniques suitable for treating children effectively.
• Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection control standards.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse patient populations effectively.
• Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical history review.
• Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to ensure precise documentation.
• Experience with general dentistry procedures, dental x-ray techniques, and the operation of dental equipment.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management to safeguard patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work efficiently within a team environment while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
