Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient care.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate medical documentation and records management.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures as needed to support comprehensive patient assessments.
- Support front desk operations by performing dental receptionist duties, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist with billing processes.
- Operate 3D scanners and other advanced dental technology to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Uphold strict infection control standards and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with the dental team to provide exceptional care across various specialties such as pediatrics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in dental assisting preferred.
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is advantageous but not required; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Basic understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical documentation standards.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely and accurately.
