Duties

• Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Maintain accurate and detailed dental records using Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting dental coding processes for billing and insurance purposes.

Skills

• Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices.
• Experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings is highly preferred.
• Skilled in chairside assisting, including taking vital signs and medical imaging procedures.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring they feel safe and cared for.
• Knowledge of medical records management, medical coding, and EMR systems integration.

Requirements

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
