Responsibilities
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and sterilizers following strict protocols to ensure all instruments are properly processed.
- Manage inventory of sterilized supplies, tracking usage and reordering as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Prepare surgical instruments and medical devices for sterilization by cleaning, disassembling, and inspecting for damage or contamination.
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support different departments by providing sterilized supplies promptly and efficiently, adapting to fluctuating workflow demands.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during handling and processing of sterile items to prevent contamination.
- Assist with training new staff on sterilization procedures and safety protocols as needed.
Skills
- Dental experience is a plus, but not required
- Familiarity with inventory management systems to track supplies and ensure availability of sterile instruments.
- Solid understanding of anatomy and physiology to recognize proper instrument handling and processing requirements.
- Ability to apply aseptic techniques meticulously during all stages of sterilization and handling procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to surgical instruments and healthcare settings.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards and infection control policies.
