Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments with precision and confidence. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology efficiently and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and procedure efficiency. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation for patients requiring medical history updates or special care considerations. Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Requirements
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry is highly preferred. Strong familiarity with dental assisting tools, medical imaging equipment, X-ray safety protocols, and anatomy knowledge related to oral structures. Excellent understanding of dental terminology, infection control practices, and the use of EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Ability to perform dental assisting duties including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and supporting endodontics or prosthodontics procedures confidently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience managing medical records securely while maintaining patient confidentiality. Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting that requires multitasking between clinical tasks and administrative responsibilities like dental receptionist duties. Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is required; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatrics are advantageous.
