POSITION: Dental Hygiene Assistant JOB CLASSIFICATION: non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: A dental hygiene assistant performs any duty assigned to them by the Dentist/Hygienist, and or supervisor/lead. Their main function is to greet and seat the patient while developing and maintaining a rapport that puts them at ease. They are also qualified to perform many tasks both for the patient and for the Hygienist. They are the eyes and ears of the Doctor/Hygienist when (s)he cannot be with the patient. They must always maintain a professional attitude towards the patient and the doctor even when faced with adversity.
This position is classified as a safety sensitive position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: An assistant must be in good physical condition to maintain the high level of quality demanded of them from patients and doctors. They must be able to perform all tasks asked of them with a good attitude and physical ability. They must be able to deal with a certain amount of stress as well as physical exertion.
HAZARDS: An assistant is exposed to many potential hazards such as chemicals, radiation, infectious diseases, and stress.

· Reports to Dental Assistant Supervisor as immediate supervisor
· Reports to Practice manager as top-level management
· Maintains OSHA and Dental Board compliance
