Responsibilities
- Research federal, state, and local regulatory filing requirements and communicate directly with the appropriate agencies
- Manage the department’s email inbox and incoming mail, ensuring timely responses, proper routing, and effective prioritization of inquiries
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings, including business taxes, sales and use taxes, personal property taxes, real estate taxes, license renewals, and annual franchise reports
- Ensure accurate coding and timely submission of tax bills to the Accounts Payable team
- Review invoice details and prepare required monthly accounts payable entries
- Prepare journal entries and maintain complete and accurate supporting documentation
- Perform account reconciliations for multiple accounts and locations, identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Analyze financial data and quantify variances from expected results
- Communicate regulatory requirements, filing statuses, and accounting policies to the field
- Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks, track progress, and provide timely status updates
- Highly detail‑oriented, with the ability to work accurately when reviewing financial data and preparing regulatory filings
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Outlook
- Effective communicator who can interact professionally with internal teams, office managers, and regulatory agencies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research issues, identify discrepancies, and interpret general ledger activity
- Able to work independently in a remote environment while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
- Dependable, self‑motivated, and committed to producing high‑quality work
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of US GAAP and basic accounting principles
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical skills for researching and identifying discrepancies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (training provided)
