About the role
We’re raising our 1-year-old with Russian and English at home and want our child to grow up speaking Mandarin as a native language. We’re looking for a warm, native Mandarin speaker who will spend time with our child speaking only Mandarin. This role is about language, not housekeeping.
What you’ll do
- Talk, sing, read, and play with our child entirely in Mandarin
- Use everyday moments (meals, walks, playtime, bath) for natural conversation
- Introduce Chinese songs, nursery rhymes, picture books, and simple games
- Basic supervision and care during your hours (snacks, diaper changes, naps as needed)
- Share brief updates on new words and progress
Requirements
- Native Mandarin speaker with clear standard pronunciation (Putonghua)
- Experience with infants or toddlers (as a parent, nanny, or teacher)
- Patient, playful, and talkative
- References and a background check
- Able to commit long-term (1 year preferred)
Nice to have
- Early childhood education or teaching background
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Conversational English, for communicating with parents
