Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and provide excellent customer service at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, coordinating with clinical staff.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) such as eClinicalWorks or other EMR platforms.
- Handle phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and providing information about services and procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with billing procedures, including medical collection efforts, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and documentation review to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized patient files in accordance with health information management standards.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous.
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical billing, coding (ICD coding), insurance verification, and medical administrative support.
- Strong computer skills including experience with dental practice management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; experience with EHR systems is essential.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear instructions and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
