We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dental Treatment Plan Coordinator to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
- Review and explain treatment plans to patients, ensuring they understand procedures, costs, and payment options
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Athenahealth
- Assist patients with insurance verification, claims submission, and follow-up on outstanding balances
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatment plans, patient interactions, and billing information within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Collaborate with dental providers to review clinical notes and ensure proper coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and medical coding standards
- Support medical collection efforts by following HIPAA guidelines and ensuring confidentiality of patient information
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient intake processes, and front desk duties using multi-line phone systems and office management software
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and Medicare requirements while providing exemplary patient service
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of dental terminology, medical billing, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Athenahealth
- Strong understanding of insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience in a medical or dental office setting
- Ability to review documentation thoroughly while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and care plans
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred to ensure smooth onboarding into our workflow
