What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Paraeducator IA/Special Education Bus Assistant (Part Time) position at Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District?
COMPENSATION: $21.65/per hour per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Secretaries and Assistants Association located on the DY website.

SUMMARY: To assist in providing safe transportation to and from school so that students may enjoy the District’s educational and extracurricular programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists the bus driver in maintaining safe student conduct on the bus.
- Monitors and supervises students’ behavior and instructs the students in bus safety.
- Assists students in getting on and off the bus safely, as needed.
- Supports the driver to verify transportation notes to prevent unauthorized travel.
- Supports the behavioral/social-emotional needs of children by utilizing pro-active, pro-social problem solving skills
- Assist, monitor and supervise students.
- May be required to assist in lifting students on and off the bus.
- May conduct wheel chair lift procedures, as trained.
- Know and implement health and safety protocols for all students riding the bus.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR, First Aid Certification desirable.
- Participate in annual training, for blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, 51A, bullying, epi-pen, etc.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
