What are the responsibilities and job description for the English Teacher Grade 7 (2026-2027 School Year) position at Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Meets and instructs grade 7 students in English class during assigned time.
- Teaches English to pupils in a classroom, using the course of students adopted by the School Committee and other appropriate learning activities.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence upon request of immediate superior.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
- Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts 5 - 8 English Teacher license
- Relevant experience preferred
