POSITION SUMMARY
The Fixed Operations Field Specialist – Parts Division is a corporate-level field role responsible for training, executing, and monitoring the operational fundamentals across all Dennis & Co. Auto Group parts departments. This position serves as the on-site extension of the Corporate Director of Fixed Operations, ensuring that the parts business model is actively implemented, tracked, and sustained at each dealership location.
This is a hands-on, high-accountability role requiring a fixed operations professional with dealership parts experience. The ideal candidate understands how parts departments run, can build trust with store-level management and staff, and is equally comfortable training counterpersons on stocking order discipline as they are reviewing KPIs with a parts manager, or guiding a general manager on parts department performance.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Training & Implementation
- Train parts managers, counterpersons, and warehouse support staff on the Price compliance, Gross margins, inventory management, obsolescence, partnering with Service, sensitive part acquisitions, sister store compliance, monthly bin checks, and various other targets as needed
- Execute structured rollouts of new initiatives at the store level in coordination with the Corporate Director
- Monitor adherence to group fundamentals during each visit and document findings
- Identify gaps between corporate standards and store-level execution and escalate with specific corrective recommendations
Store Visits
- Conduct approximately two structured field visits per location per month across dealership sites
- Execute each visit against a pre-defined agenda developed with the Corporate Director
- Meet with managers, and counterpersons as needed, during each visit to review performance, address obstacles, and reinforce expectations
- Complete a written visit summary following each store visit, submitted to the Corporate Director
Performance Monitoring & Follow-Through
- KPI progress will be tracked by location across all OEMs, Stocking compliance, inventory quality, and parts department, as well a creating target areas for review during dealership visits.
- Follow up on outstanding action items from prior visits and hold store teams accountable to agreed-upon timelines
- Monitor rollout progress of new initiatives and report status to the Corporate Director on a regular cadence
- Flag underperforming locations early with supporting data
Counterperson & Team Coaching
- Conduct on-floor coaching as needed with parts counterpersons on stocking order discipline, customer communications, upsell technique, and high priority special-order fulfillment progress
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Minimum 5–7 years of dealership parts operations experience, including direct roles as a parts counterperson, parts manager, or fixed operations director
- Deep working knowledge of parts matrix pricing, stocking order processes, special-order/core-return workflows, and inventory management
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop front-line staff in a dealership environment
- Strong command of DMS systems — CDK experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret parts department financial statements and KPI reports
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build credibility quickly with store-level teams
- Highly organized with the ability to manage a multi-site visit schedule without close supervision
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the NY/NJ market with some overnights.
Preferred
- Prior experience in a multi-store or corporate fixed operations role
- Experience with OEM warranty parts compliance and audit processes
- Familiarity with structured parts business models, Four Pillar frameworks, or similar fixed ops methodology
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a field-based position. The majority of working hours are spent on-site at dealership locations. Some office time is expected for report preparation, KPI review, and coordination with the Corporate Director. Regular travel throughout the New York and New Jersey market is required, with occasional flexibility for coordination on non-visit days.
