Overview
Dennis & Co. Auto Group is seeking an experienced and data-driven Dealer Group Used Inventory Manager to oversee all aspects of new and used vehicle inventory across our dealership network. This role is central to optimizing inventory mix, managing OEM allocations, ensuring pricing precision, and driving profitability across multiple stores. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical acumen, deep automotive retail knowledge, and a passion for maximizing vehicle turn and margin performance through disciplined inventory management.
Scope of Responsibility
This position covers both new and used car inventory management across all Dennis & Co. dealerships. The Inventory Manager will collaborate closely with General Managers, Used Car Managers, and OEM partners to balance inventory levels, optimize pricing, and support strategic acquisition and disposal decisions.
Key Responsibilities
New Vehicle Management
- Manage OEM new car allocation and ordering, ensuring the right model mix, trim levels, and color combinations to match regional market demand and store-level objectives.
- Oversee inventory balancing and vehicle transfers across dealerships to maximize sales velocity and minimize aged units.
- Monitor OEM incentive programs and update store leaders on opportunities to optimize allocation and sell-down performance.
Used Vehicle Strategy
- Lead valuation and pricing processes for all used vehicles, including lease returns, trade-ins, service lane purchases, and street buys.
- Continuously reprice inventory based on market dynamics, group objectives, vehicle age, and floorplan carrying costs.
- Utilize market data, appraisal tools, and proprietary metrics to ensure all vehicles are priced competitively and aligned with group profitability goals.
- Develop and maintain inventory aging controls, ensuring targeted turn rates and minimal depreciation exposure.
Inventory Optimization
- Conduct ongoing analysis of inventory composition by store and across the group, including mix, days’ supply, turn rate, and profitability.
- Recommend and execute acquisition and dispossession strategies (including wholesaling and dealer trades) to maintain optimal inventory balance.
- Collaborate with store management teams to ensure sourcing targets and stocking plans are aligned with group strategy.
Support & Collaboration
- Serve as an on-demand resource to dealership leadership teams, providing data-driven insights and tactical support on inventory levels, pricing, and acquisition strategy.
- Partner with the finance and floor plan teams to monitor inventory capital utilization and optimize financial performance.
- Support executive management with regular groupwide inventory reports, analysis, and forecasts to inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive retail inventory management, preferably in a multi-store dealer group environment.
- Strong knowledge of OEM allocation systems, vehicle valuation platforms (e.g., vAuto, CarOffer, ACV, or equivalent), and inventory reporting tools.
- Proven expertise in vehicle acquisition and disposal channels, including auto auctions (Manheim, Adesa, etc.), wholesale networks, digital marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer buying programs.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate, negotiate, and acquire used inventory through multiple sourcing avenues—service lanes, trade-ins, street purchases, online platforms, and inter-dealer trades.
- Practical experience in wholesaling strategies, including timing, channel selection, and profit optimization for underperforming or aged inventory.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data, identify actionable insights, and communicate recommendations clearly to executives and store leaders.
- Excellent Excel and reporting skills; familiarity with DMS platforms (e.g., CDK and Reynolds & Reynolds) preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Automotive Management, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
