As an ADON and Infection Control Nurse, you will assist in ensuring the nursing department provides consistent, attentive, and efficient care to our residents. The ADON is responsible for monitoring nursing staff, nursing activities, and patient care, as well as ensuring nursing activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.

Responsibilities:

• Reports directly to the Director of Nursing and covering when the Director of Nursing is not in the facility
• Creates a safe, healthy work environment that supports delivery of high-quality resident care
• Creates a culture where highly engaged team members are able to contribute to the best in resident care and to grow professionally
• Assures the best resident care by supervising and directing Nursing Personnel
• Serves as a liaison for all nursing staff and nurse management
• Makes decisions regarding nursing and unit problems
• Participates in facility surveys
• Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and resident's families
• Other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Infection Control Responsibilities:

• Serves as expert for Infection Control and Prevention issues
• Supports implementation of guidelines for prevention and spread of communicable disease and antibiotic stewardship
• Provides orientation to facility Infection Preventionist upon hire
• Provides Infection Control and Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship education to facility IP and facility staff as needed
• Monitors facility infection surveillance data to identify trends/patterns of infections and antibiotic usage
• Provides support and guidance on all outbreak issues at the facility level
• Assists with pre-annual reviews/mock surveys to ensure Infection Control and Prevention and Antibiotic stewardship regulations are met
• Conducts audits of facility Infection Control and Prevention and Antibiotic Stewardship programs to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Oversees annual influenza/covid vaccination program for facilities
  
  
  

Requirements:

• A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current Registered Nurse/RN licensure
• Minimum 1 year full-time or equivalent clinical experience preferred
• Two years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing with one year as an educator preferred
• Experience with Infection Control and Prevention preferred
• Excellence in clinical nursing skills required
• Experience in Gerontology preferred
• Maryland unencumbered RN licensed required (or Multistate)
• Long Term Care Experience required
• Infection Control Preventionist Training required
