DRIVER- LOCAL

SUMMARY 

Deliver finished product to customer in a safe and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Must maintain a regular, reliable, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies. Other duties may be assigned.

• Operates up to a six-axle rig in conformance with state and interstate regulations as to capacities, routing, trip logs, maintenance, etc. 
• Assists in loading and unloading as required:        using overhead crane and/or hi lo. 
• Ensures proper tie down procedures are followed. 
• Delivers product in timely and safe manner. 
• May, on occasion, return skids and customer rejects. 
• Assists shipping and receiving team as needed. 
• Responsible for following work instructions for Kan Ban pull systems. 
• Maintains work area in a clean and safe condition, following 5S standards.   
• Understanding and working knowledge of all job related Quality System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.

IMPACT ON CUSTOMER QUALITY Failure to perform these activities will likely result in dissatisfaction to the internal/external customer.

• Follow established instructions and quality standards. 
• Assist in ensuring on-time deliveries. 
• Keep equipment clean and in proper working order. 
• Make certain that all loads are secure.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Department of Transportation license and physical are required

CDL-A License 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and to write simple correspondence.  Also has the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees.

Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: 

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually loud.
