What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper - Residential Living Hall position at Denmark Technical College (SC)?
The Part-Time Housekeeper is responsible for helping maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming living environments within Denmark Tech’s residential living complexes. This position provides routine cleaning and housekeeping services in common areas, shared facilities, and other designated residential spaces.
The Housekeeper works closely with Housing & Residence Life personnel to support the overall condition and appearance of the living complexes and to identify maintenance or facility issues that require additional attention.
- Clean and sanitize common areas within the living complexes, including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, lounges, study areas, laundry rooms, community bathrooms, and other shared spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean assigned areas according to established schedules.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, showers, floors, and other surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles and properly dispose of waste from common areas.
- Replenish restroom and housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Clean doors, windows, walls, fixtures, furniture, and other surfaces as necessary.
- Assist with cleaning vacant student rooms and preparing rooms for new residents during move-in, move-out, and room transitions.
- Provide additional cleaning support during high-traffic periods, special events, opening and closing of the living complexes, and other times as assigned.
- Immediately report maintenance concerns such as plumbing leaks, damaged fixtures, electrical concerns, HVAC issues, pest concerns, water intrusion, mold or mildew concerns, and other facility deficiencies through the appropriate reporting process.
- Report safety hazards, significant damage, or unusual conditions to Housing & Residence Life/Campus Experience staff.
- Maintain housekeeping supplies and equipment in an organized and secure manner.
- Follow established procedures for the safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professionalism when working in student residential environments.
- Coordinate with Housing & Residence Life and Facilities personnel when cleaning needs overlap with maintenance or repair work.
The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs; operate standard housekeeping equipment; and lift or move supplies and equipment associated with routine housekeeping responsibilities.
