Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Buildings/Grounds Supervisor, performs routine custodial/housekeeping and/or grounds keeps duties to keep all assigned areas cleaned.

  • Performs housekeeping duties to include: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, polishing floors, walkways, halls and restroom facilities.
  • Cleans assigned offices, lobby areas, storage and work areas.
  • Assist with moving or setting up furniture and chairs as needed.
  • Replaces fluorescent light bulbs, lubricates hardware systematically when needed.
  • Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment and furniture.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory for assigned building.
  • Performs housekeeping duties for the assigned dormitory daily.
  • Maintain grounds by performing grounds-keeping tasks to ensure grounds are safe and inviting.
  • Mows lawns, rakes leaves, remove trash and litter, and keeps grounds safe of debris.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma; or a 10th grade equivalency and one (1) year related work experience.

A valid driver's license. This position requires average strength and stamina as well as normal range of physical motion. Position involves working with mildly irritating chemicals involved with indoor and outdoor cleaning, sanitation and grounds-keeping duties and incumbent will be required to follow appropriate safety guidelines in the handling of such chemicals as well as equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the proper and safe performance of custodial, housekeeping and grounds-keeping. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to area of employment. Skill in the use of cleaning chemicals, grounds-keeping tools and equipment. Ability to follow instructions, both orally and written. Ability to keep records.

Additional Comments

This position will required extended hours as work dictates. Physical requirements will require bending, stooping, climbing ladders, squatting, and lifting of 40 pounds or more unassisted regularly. Will required working in adverse weather conditions and will require "call back" to the workplace in response to emergencies as needed.
