Mechanical Designer – Piping

On-Site role
This senior role delivers 3D piping and equipment layouts for retrofit, environmental, and new generation heavy industrial projects. You will lead multi-discipline design teams, produce 2D/3D deliverables, execute field data gathering, and ensure full compliance with piping construction standards and applicable codes
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Layouts: Create complex 3D piping and equipment models, site layouts, and general arrangements using CAD tools (AutoPLANT, AVEVA).
- 2D Deliverables & P&IDs: Produce detailed 2D orthographic drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and custom pipe support designs.
- Engineering Calculations & MTOs: Execute piping component sizing, valve selection, material specification, and comprehensive material take-offs (MTOs).
- Field Data & Technical Leadership: Gather field measurements, lead multi-discipline technical reviews, check design drawings for accuracy, and provide direct construction support.
Requirements
- Experience: 10 years of dedicated piping design experience within power generation or heavy industrial plants.
- Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in 3D piping modeling tools; direct experience with AutoPLANT and/or AVEVA preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of basic piping construction practices, pipe/material/valve selection, and applicable industry codes.
- Project Execution: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent large projects independently with minimal supervision, strong organizational skills, and a self-motivated approach.
