Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; accurately document findings in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Support medical procedures such as catheter care, wound dressing changes, phlebotomy (blood draws), and medication administration under supervision.
- Ensure patient safety through proper manual handling techniques and safe lifting practices using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding sensitive medical records.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
- Follow aseptic techniques and infection control protocols diligently to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in various care settings.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the state licensing board.
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, and behavioral health needs.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, basic life support (CPR), and patient transfer methods.
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), hospice or palliative care environments is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and demonstrate manual handling skills; physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Excellent caregiver communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient service and teamwork.
