Job Description

Job Title: Laser Scanner Operator/CMM Operator/Quality Inspector

Employment Status: Full-Time

Department: Quality

Position Reports To: Quality Supervisor

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect tooling and manufactured parts using a laser scanning arm (Polyworks software), a coordinate measuring machine (PC-DMIS software), and other measuring tools such as a height gauge or calipers.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Determine part inspection requirements from customer’s blueprint and specifications
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Perform inspections using Romer arms/laser tracker
  • Operate any type of CMM equipment as required
  • Ability to create and analyze reports to determine the next steps in the process
  • Complete visual inspections on castings
  • Test and troubleshoot inspection hardware
  • Responsible for ensuring that AS9000, ISO 9001, and QS9000 are implemented and adhered to in your area
  • Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned


Skills or Experience Required:

Must have High School diploma or GED. Must have strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with others towards the resolution of problems. Experience in operating CMM/laser scanning equipment is a plus, but training can be done on-site.

  • Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering drawings (blueprints)


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must have the ability to -

  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry


REASONING SKILLS:

Must have the ability to -

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
