Ability to work with students, teachers, and parents.

Position Goal:
To help and support teachers with differentiating instruction to meet student needs, implementing interventions, and making instructional decisions based on student assessment data. Work with Alternative School At-Risk Teacher and Independent Learning Center Specialist as necessary.
Functions of At-Risk Interventionist:
- Follows the district At-Risk plan and recommend updates to the building plan annually.
- Works with members of the administration and faculty to identify the at-risk student in accordance with the district At-Risk plan.
- Meets with each assigned at-risk student on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and personal challenges of each student.
- Provides motivation and encouragement to the at-risk student.
- Works cooperatively as a resource with classroom teachers who have at-risk students in regular classes by interpreting the abilities and disabilities of these students to the entire staff and assisting the student with regular class assignments.
- Assists other professional staff members in the screening, evaluating, and recommending placements of applicants in the school at-risk program.
- Assists teachers in creating intervention plans (I-Plans, behavior plans, etc.) for students and monitors the implemented interventions.
- Assists the at-risk student in making a realistic assessment of their abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with these abilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Strives to continue to learn and grow as a professional.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Endeavors to deal with the community, students, parents, teachers, administrators, and staff members in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Monitors and provides progress monitoring for all at-risk students progress weekly.
- Works with teachers to develop and follow up on a sequence of interventions for students who are at risk of falling behind academically.
- Schedules and facilitates MTSS meetings on at-risk students.
- Collaborates with teams and/or departments in the analysis of data and the implementation of quality interventions.
- Assists teachers to collect, desegregate, and analyze data to help teachers make appropriate instructional decisions supported by the data.
- Provides and/or coordinates intervention services in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Manages the selection of intervention materials and other resources for curricular areas and classrooms in coordination with the Director of School Improvement, the BLT Team and building Principal.
- Collaborates with general education teachers during their prep periods to discuss the RTI process and their responsibilities.
- Coordinates with student tutors to provide additional assistance during required extended day services (high school only).
- Updates MTSS teams on each at-risk student at least twice a month.
- Coordinates credit recovery for students. (high school only)
- Other duties as assigned.
