JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the shipping and receiving of product, verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards. Must have the ability to work both alone and/or with a team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helps maintain inventory system per the direction of the Shipping Department Supervisor/Inventory Assistant (which may include product rotation and tracking, investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies, and processing seconds and samples.)
- Backing-up the Shipping Department Supervisor on the FedEx shipping system.
- Assist in receiving shipments, putting stock orders into inventory, unloading of trucks and putting away supplies.
- Helps fulfill Shopify orders.
- Preps pallets and outboard freight shipments.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Shipping Department LEAD, such as keeping the shipping area clean and tidy.
- Participate in all Safety and Health Training Programs as required.
- Sand the bottom of each product to ensure it meets our quality standard.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Lead.
OTHER PERTINENT JOB INFORMATION:
1. Exposure - Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
2. Physical - This position is very active and requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to or over 50 pounds.
3. Equipment – Freight elevator, pallet jack.
4. It is every employee’s responsibility to perform each job task safely. If an employee is unsure how to perform the task safely and/or follow operating procedures, he or she must consult with their lead/manager.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Able to provide shipment of products in a timely manner per customer’s expectations. Promote and enforce safety rules and practices at all times.
Requirements
- Experience with shipping (FedEx) and palletizing products for freight shipments is a plus.
- Familiar with inventory control, manufacturing inventory control, or warehouse management.
- Excellent analytical, communication and time management skills. Superior organizational skills, ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Able to deal with multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, effective listening, as well as strong oral and written communication skills, and willingness to work extra hours or weekend hours if needed.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Knowledge of Macintosh operating systems is a plus, as well as database programs such as File Maker.
- Must speak, read and write English.
- Must be able to communicate with vendors on a daily basis.
