Arborist Groundsperson

Overview:

Looking for a motivated, hard working individual to join our quality team of arborists to assist in line clearance operations. If you love the outdoors and spending time in nature this is the job for you. We work in some of the most beautiful locations in the San Juan Mountains. A typical day involves hiking into the mountains with climbing gear, rigging equipment and chainsaws to clear undergrowth, trim back trees and cut down hazard trees.

This is a seasonal position and would run from April through September. We work on a 4/10 schedule and enjoy long three day weekends Friday through Sunday.

Experience in tree work is preferred but we can train the right candidate if you have the right aptitude and drive to learn. A high level of physical fitness is a must. Any outdoor experience such as backpacking, hunting, climbing, off road driving or mountaineering is a plus as is experience with power tools or ropes.

Duties

• Hike in to work sites carrying gear and equipment.
• Drive work trucks safely on forest roads .
• Operate a chainsaw and pole saws to remove undergrowth, trim back and cut down trees.
• Assist the foreman with daily operations for removals and trimming.
• Operate effectively as a part of a team.
• Conduct regular saw maintenance.
• Interact with the public in a friendly and professional manner.

Experience

• Previous experience in tree work is preferred but not mandatory; we are willing to train motivated individuals.
• Proficient in using both power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality in all tasks performed.
• Ability to work as part of a team in various weather conditions.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
