Summary
The Supervisor, Material Handling will achieve positive results through the aspects of the supply chain, receiving, and material handling. Effectively manage issues and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities with material handling team, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes and methods. Maintain records and collaborate with cross-functional departments. Individuals are expected to contribute to the operation’s mission statement of Deliver Excellence Every day, and the goals established for SQDC pillars (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost).

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the warehouse material handling team to ensure consistent execution of daily logistics processes.
- Supervise material handling associates, monitor work, ensure safe equipment use, and partner with EHS on audits and improvements.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop team members through training, coaching, and ongoing feedback.
- Approve time sheets, manage time off schedules, and schedule associates based on business needs.
- Maintain working knowledge of all direct report responsibilities and provide coverage when needed.
- Promote a culture of optimism, teamwork, accountability, and performance.
- Participate in on boarding training for new employees.
- Assist with updating, developing, and training on SOPs, work instructions, and One Point lessons.
- Lead and participate in cross functional teams to resolve material handling issues and drive continuous improvement (quality, food safety, safety, customer complaints).
- Challenge ineffective methods respectfully and promote a collaborative environment.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in safety, food safety, audit readiness, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure implementation of preventive, predictive, and corrective actions for team, equipment, and warehouse operations
- Analyze, validate, and optimize warehouse processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure warehouse and storage areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
- Coordinate material handler activities including staging production materials, WIP, weigh-ups, and tempering.
- Manage inbound receivables at third-party warehouses within the WMS.
- Approve and manage raw material returns, ensuring timely and appropriate handling.
- Coordinate storage and pickup of recyclables and trash.
- Liaison with inventory controllers to ensure stock movements and stock-keeping standards meet company guidelines.
- Participate in and coordinate stock transfers across multiple locations while maintaining WMS accuracy.
- Collaborate with Supervisor Supply Chain to ensure process of cycle counts to verify physical inventory against ERP records and adjust as needed is performed according to process.
- Communicate inventory discrepancies or adjustments to appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure effective working relationships with key support functions to improve operations and support SQDC goals.
- Manage issues and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities with material handling teams.
- Recommend and implement departmental policies, procedures, and process improvements.
- Coordinate stock transfers and ensure accurate WMS updates.
- Manage departmental spending in alignment with the annual budget while upholding quality and service standards.
- Ensure audit readiness for safety, food safety, and operational compliance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant warehouse environment.
- Coordinate with third party sanitation company on cleaning duties.

Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of supervisor experience preferred,
- Or 2 years of college and 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience,
- or 4-year high school diploma and 7–10 years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Having or obtaining Fork Lift Certification/license required
- Food manufacturing experience preferred
- Microsoft Office experience required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization without assistance.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
