Are you looking for more than "just a job"? At Dempsey & Baxter, no two days are alike. One morning you might help a client evaluate coins from the Roman Empire; that afternoon you may assist with a custom engagement ring or appraise antique jewelry from the 1920s. While every day is different, providing exceptional service to our clients is always our top priority.
We're looking for up to three full-time Buyers & Sales Associates to join our team. If you have experience in the jewelry, coin, currency, bullion, or precious metals industry, we'd especially love to hear from you. Whether you've worked in jewelry sales, coin collecting, bullion trading, estate buying, appraisals, or a related field, your experience is valuable here.
Don't have industry experience? That's okay too. We provide extensive hands-on training for motivated individuals with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
What You'll Do
- Buy gold and silver jewelry from the public and wholesale dealers
- Buy rare coins and currency
- Buy gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion and coins
- Sell jewelry, bullion, rare coins, and currency
- Assist clients with jewelry repairs, custom projects, and appraisals
- Greet clients, answer phones, and respond to customer inquiries
- Operate point-of-sale software and cash drawers
- Write sales slips, purchase orders, and repair take-ins
- Continue learning and take on additional responsibilities as you grow with the business
What We're Looking For
- Industry experience is strongly preferred, including experience with jewelry, coins, currency, bullion, precious metals, estate buying, appraisals, or related fields
- Candidates without industry experience are also encouraged to apply if they have at least three years of retail sales or customer service experience and a strong desire to learn
- Exceptional customer service skills, enthusiasm, patience, and professionalism
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Reliability, integrity, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities
Helpful, but not required (we'll train the right person):
- Knowledge of numismatic coins and currency
- Knowledge of jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals
- Experience buying or selling jewelry, bullion, coins, or collectibles
