What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Glass Technician – Long-Term Career Opportunity position at DeMotte Glass?
Glass Technician (Career Track Position – Installation & Leadership)Job Summary
We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Glass Technician who is looking to build a long-term career — not just find their next job.
We are a family-owned, Christ-centered company that believes in doing business the right way — with integrity, excellence, and care for people. Our work is built on strong relationships, high standards, and a commitment to honoring God through how we serve our customers and operate as a team.
This role is designed for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants to grow alongside a company that is intentionally building the technical side of its operation — systems, standards, and leadership.
You will work hands-on across a variety of glass projects including custom shower doors, residential glass, mirrors, and specialty installs, while developing the skills and experience to eventually take on leadership within the company.
This is a career-track position with a clear path into senior and leadership roles for the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Install, replace, and repair glass across residential and remodeling projects
- Work on custom shower enclosures, mirrors, windows, and specialty glass installations
- Read and interpret measurements, layouts, and work orders
- Cut, fit, and install glass with precision and attention to detail
- Perform caulking, sealing, and finishing work to a high standard
- Safely handle and transport glass materials
- Maintain clean, organized jobsites and professional customer interactions
- Take ownership of the quality of your work — no shortcuts
Growth & Leadership Opportunity
This is not a dead-end role.
As you grow, you will have opportunities to:
- Run installs independently
- Lead job sites and manage projects
- Train and develop newer team members
- Help improve installation systems and shop operations
- Step into roles such as:
- Senior Technician
- Lead Installer
- Head Installer / Shop Leader
We are intentionally building leaders — not just employees.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in construction, glass work, remodeling, or hands-on trades preferred
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Ability to read measurements and layouts accurately
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials
Bonus (not required):
- Glass or shower door installation experience
- Carpentry or finish work
- General construction background
Most important:
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, coachable, and wants to build something long-term.
