Wastewater Tech/HIDES

Position Summary

This full-time position is responsible for the proper handling, documentation, and loading of beef hides for transport to a processing facility or landfill. This includes ensuring hides are properly preserved and secured, and that safety standards are consistently followed in a physically demanding environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Record and monitor the quantity and type of hides loaded into vats (plastic or cardboard).
• Operate forklifts (propane and fuel-powered) and conduct daily safety checks prior to use.
• Use hand pallet jacks and manually position empty vats as needed.
• Lift and hang fallen hides onto overhead chains.
• Shovel ice into vats to preserve hides as required.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations and complete shipping and inventory forms accurately.
• Relocate empty vats from incoming trailers to designated areas using forklift or lifting
• Position vats under the hide chain to receive hides.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and always adhere to safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas.

Job Requirements

• Must be able to work in environments with varying temperatures and operating conditions.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, hear, and talk for up to 12 hours per day.
• Must tolerate hot and cold working environments and be capable of entering operational areas.

Work Environment

• Exposure to wet, cold, and hot conditions.
• Loud noise and odors common to beef processing environments.
• Regular exposure to raw animal products and heavy equipment operation.
