Demco, a trusted partner to schools and libraries nationwide, is seeking an experienced Upholstery Lead to support and grow our soft seating production department. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on process improvement, product development, and delivering the high-quality seating products that make today’s learning spaces dynamic, welcoming, and durable.
About the Role
As our Upholstery Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of a growing area in our manufacturing operation, helping to build out and optimize our soft seating line. Working closely with departments like Engineering, Product Development, and Supply Chain, you’ll oversee day-to-day upholstery production, implement process improvements, and assist in launching new, innovative seating solutions that support modern learning environments.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop our soft seating upholstery department, working side-by-side with plant leadership to establish efficient workflows and high production standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to bring new products to life – on time and within budget.
- Optimize production by monitoring equipment needs, supply usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Train and support team members, ensuring safety and quality standards are consistently met.
- Monitor KPIs like material waste, indirect labor, and production timelines to ensure performance targets are hit.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 years of experience in upholstery applications (soft seating preferred)
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training a plus
- Solid knowledge of upholstery processes, equipment, and techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and spend most of the shift on your feet
