What are the responsibilities and job description for the HR Representative - Talent & Workforce position at DEMA Engineering?
HR Representative – Talent & Workforce
DEMA Engineering Company | St. Louis, MO or Gerald, MO | Full-Time | On-Site with Regular Travel
Help us build something new.
DEMA Engineering Company is creating a new HR Representative – Talent & Workforce role to bring greater focus and consistency to how we recruit and welcome people across our growing organization.
For years, recruiting has been handled alongside many other HR and operational responsibilities. This role changes that. You'll be DEMA's dedicated talent resource-leading full-cycle recruiting while helping shape how we attract people, welcome them to DEMA, and support their first 90 days.
It's an opportunity to build something rather than simply inherit a recruiting process.
What you'll do
Lead recruiting across DEMA
- Own full-cycle recruiting for hourly, skilled, professional, and technical positions across our divisions.
- Partner with hiring managers to build candidate profiles, establish realistic timelines, and develop recruiting strategies.
- Build talent pipelines through direct sourcing, networking, referrals, community partnerships, recruiting events, and other creative approaches-not just job postings.
- Coordinate interviews, candidate assessments, offers, background checks, and other pre-employment activities.
- Help hiring managers strengthen interviewing and selection practices while providing informed recommendations and guidance.
- Build a consistent, responsive candidate experience from first contact through hire.
Make the first 90 days count
- Partner with site HR Representatives and Operations leaders to create a smooth transition from offer acceptance through the employee's first day.
- Help coordinate and monitor onboarding and required new-hire training.
- Stay connected to new employees during their first 90 days, gather feedback, and identify opportunities to improve the early employee experience.
Help us understand our workforce
- Track recruiting and workforce measures such as time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness, offer acceptance, and early turnover.
- Look for patterns in candidate and new-hire feedback and help translate those patterns into practical action.
- Partner with HR and Operations leaders on engagement, recognition, culture, and workforce-stability initiatives.
- Support other HR projects and initiatives when recruiting demands permit.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is more than a transactional recruiter. You should enjoy building relationships, solving recruiting challenges, working with leaders, and understanding what makes people choose to stay.
You'll likely bring:
- 3 years of recruiting or talent acquisition experience, preferably full-cycle.
- Experience recruiting both hourly and salaried positions.
- Manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or other operational recruiting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong sourcing skills and the ability to build pipelines beyond traditional job postings.
- Experience with an ATS and HR technology, with an interest in using data to improve recruiting.
- Strong interviewing, communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage multiple openings, priorities, and locations without losing sight of the candidate experience.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or recruiting/talent certification is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between DEMA locations.
Where you'll work
This is an onsite, multi-location role. You may be based at either our Kirkwood/St. Louis or Gerald, Missouri location, with regular travel between the two. You should expect to spend approximately 1–2 days per week at the secondary location, with additional onsite presence based on business needs. You'll spend time with hiring managers, employees, and candidates in both office and manufacturing environments.
What we offer
DEMA offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with company contribution
- Paid holidays and paid time off
- Employer paid life insurance and disability coverage
- Tuition reimbursement
- Wellness programs and fitness center
- Mileage reimbursement for required travel between DEMA locations
Why DEMA?
DEMA is a family-owned company with more than 420 employees and a long history of engineering and manufacturing fluid-control and chemical-dispensing solutions. Our products serve customers around the world, while our people remain at the center of how we operate.
This role gives you the opportunity to help build a talent and to see the impact of your work beyond filling requisitions.
If you're a recruiter who wants to do more than fill jobs (someone who wants to understand the workforce, improve the candidate and new-hire experience, and help build something better) we'd like to meet you.
