What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at DELUCA'S?
The server is chiefly responsible for a guest’s overall experience. They must be passionate about food, wine, and spirit knowledge. They engage with guests in a hospitable fashion, ensuring that all standards of service are met thoroughly and with attention to detail. A great server knows how to read a table: when to turn it on and when to tone it down, based on guest need. They maintain a positive and pleasant demeanor in high stress situations and know that the guest always comes first.
Server Duties:
Welcomes guests and maintains a positive and gracious demeanor throughout the dining experience
Is an expert on all menu items with the ability to field questions and offer upselling suggestions when appropriate
Strives to connect with guests ensuring personalized and memorable experiences
Must know the proper steps of service
Keys in orders with efficiency and tenders checks with accuracy
Assists in other departments when applicable such running food and bussing tables
Must have working knowledge of the POS system and money handling procedures
Must fully open and close their assigned section and sidework on a given shift
Must have an in-depth knowledge of menu ingredients, and the ability to communicate any allergens to the kitchen
Be able to perform wine service tableside
