Job Overview
Delta Tank Lines is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to run a vendor-managed maintenance program for 65 power units, tank wagons, and DOT 406/DOT 412 cargo tank trailers.
This role is for someone who likes structure, takes ownership, and does not let details slide. You will keep equipment safe, compliant, and load-ready while controlling maintenance costs. You will manage vendor performance, handle breakdown response, validate invoices, keep records clean, and drive improvements that show up in roadside results and CSA maintenance performance.
Bonus up to 15% tied to KPI performance (Maintenance Cost/Mile, Tire Cost/Mile, CSA/Roadside Performance, Terminal Compliance)
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage PM schedules and required inspections across tractors and trailers
- Coordinate repairs and roadside service through a network of vendors
- Keep fleet maintenance records accurate, complete, and audit-ready (FMCSA and terminal requirements)
- Review and approve invoices, catch billing issues, and control costs to budget
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate rates, and hold shops to expectations
- Maintain terminal-required documentation so equipment stays load-ready
- Build SOPs that set clear standards for internal teams and drivers
- Produce monthly reporting, trend analysis, and maintenance cost forecasts
Requirements
- 5 years of fleet maintenance management experience (vendor-managed programs preferred)
- Strong communication skills with drivers, vendors, and leadership
- Location: Valdosta, GA (or within current Service Market)
- Strong understanding of FMCSA maintenance compliance and recordkeeping (49 CFR Part 396)
- Proven ability to control maintenance costs and reduce repeat failures
- Comfortable making decisions, prioritizing correctly, and handling urgent issues calmly
- Experience using a maintenance management platform (Fleetio preferred)
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
