School Social Worker is a school year position working 183 days per year, from end of August through early June.
This role includes a signing bonus with a five-year commitment to Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District (DSISD).
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Service Provider who can consult with professional staff and parents, or provide direct intervention with the student, to reduce social barriers preventing the student from participating in an appropriate educational experience in the least restrictive environment.
- Provide individually designed treatment services to meet the unique needs of children with disabilities in accordance with the directives of the IEP Team.
- Offer mediation services to resolve conflicts regarding the student with disabilities and the home, school, and community.
- Assist teachers with techniques for classroom interventions.
- Serve as a liaison between schools, parents, and other human service agencies as needed.
- Develop services and/or make referrals to address unmet needs of students and their families when such needs impair students' adjustment or ability to receive maximum benefit from their school experience.
- Provide consultation and support services to school personnel.
- Offer services to parents to address factors relating to their child's academic and social/emotional success.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in identifying students with disabilities.
- Understanding of special education law.
- Experience in consultation strategies and working with community agencies.
- Experience in assessment, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
- Experience in administering and interpreting various assessments.
- Experience in developing academic and behavioral interventions.
- Background in learning and behavior management.
- Experience in leading problem-solving teams through data-based decision making.
- Experience with training and monitoring the implementation of research-based intervention programs.
- Ability to clearly express ideas and concepts verbally and in writing.
