PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must work closely with laboratory personnel, physicians, nursing, and ancillary departments to provide accurate and timely laboratory results to ensure quality patient care.

Functions Essential Tasks
Perform and review quality control. Daily quality control, with lot to lot correlations. Calibrations.
Scheduled maintenance on analyzers. Troubleshooting of analyzers.
Troubleshooting quality control outside specified range. Document all corrective actions taken.
Collects and process patient specimens. Phlebotomy.
Process specimens according to policies and procedures. Identify problems that may adversely affect patient care. Report accurate and timely patient results.
Report, document and code critical values according to policies and procedures. Document specimen issues that may affect results.
Maintain patient results according to policies and procedures. Dispose of biological waste according to state regulations.
Insure that patient’s laboratory results are protected according to HIPPA regulations.
Perform proficiency testing.
Medical Laboratory Technologist Insure that proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: DESCRIPTION
1. EDUCATION Degree from an accredited MT program.
2. LICENSURE
ASCP, AMT OR NAACLS
3. EXPERIENCE Preferred one year
4. SKILLS Ability to work alone at times and perform phlebotomy. Perform numerous complicated test simultaneously and accurately interpreting the results in a timely manner.
5. PHYSICAL EFFORT
Standing, bending, sitting, lifting and walking.
6. HOURS OF WORK Various
