As we continue to grow and push the boundaries of design and technology, we are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of New Product Development to lead our product innovation pipeline and bring bold, beautiful lighting concepts to life.


Position Overview

The Director of New Product Development (NPD) will lead the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of new products from concept through commercialization. This senior-level role requires a unique combination of creative vision, technical acumen, leadership, and project management skills. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the architectural lighting industry and a proven track record of bringing successful products to market in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

· Lead the End-to-End Product Design and Engineering Process The most critical component of the role is leading multiple new product development programs in parallel from the scope approval to final production within the approved project timelines. Projects will be managed via a New Product Development tollgate process.

· Cross-Functional Leadership Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams including industrial design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure timely and cost-effective product launches.

· Innovation & Market Differentiation Identify opportunities for innovation in lighting design, materials, controls, and sustainability to keep the company at the forefront of the architectural lighting industry.

· Vendor & Partner Collaboration Work closely with external partners, designers, and component suppliers to develop and refine product concepts and specifications.

· Quality & Compliance Ensure all products meet performance, aesthetic, regulatory, and safety standards.

· Team Development Build and mentor a high-performing product development team to support long-term innovation and growth goals.


Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field (Master’s preferred)

· 10 years of experience in new product development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

· Strong background in architectural lighting, high-end consumer products, or closely related design/manufacturing industries

· Deep understanding of product development lifecycles, design for manufacturing (DFM), and engineering best practices

· Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios

· Passion for design excellence and an eye for detail

· Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

· Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, etc.)


Salary: Commensurate with Experience, $140 – $185k

Salary : $140,000 - $185,000
