What You’ll Do
As a key member of our Revenue Cycle and Quality teams, you will:
- Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews to enhance the accuracy, completeness, and quality of clinical documentation.
- Partner closely with physicians and care teams to clarify documentation, representing true severity of illness, risk of mortality, and complexity of care.
- Lead CDI education efforts—formally and informally—to strengthen provider engagement and documentation excellence.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and collaborate on special CDI projects and organizational initiatives.
- Analyze CDI trends and prepare insightful reports and presentations to drive improvements.
- Utilize the 3M Encoder to determine DRG status and ensure compliance with coding and documentation guidelines.
- Support denial prevention and resolution, including high-dollar complex cases, by collaborating with internal teams and payor representatives.
- Foster strong working relationships with providers, health plan partners, and internal departments.
- Maintain compliance with AHIMA guidelines, ICD-10 rules, and industry standards.
- Communicate key documentation updates and insights through monthly summaries and ongoing feedback.
What You Bring
- High school diploma required; advanced certifications as listed.
- RHIT, RHIA, or CCS (required) with 3–5 years of inpatient coding experience.
- AHIMA or AAPC certification maintained within 6 months of hire.
- CCDS and/or CDIP certification upon hire or within one year.
- At least 4 years of CDI experience with advanced clinical expertise.
- Strong understanding of DRG assignments, ICD-10, documentation requirements, reimbursement methodologies, and complex disease processes.
- Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to change, and maintain professionalism in fast-paced environments.
- High proficiency in technology and EMR systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom, Meditech).
