What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rental Assistant position at Delta Fire & Safety?
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct the check-out process for bunker and aluminized gear rental items, ensuring all equipment is properly documented, inspected, and issued to the customer according to company procedures.
- Perform check-in of returned rental gear, including detailed evaluation and documentation of the condition of bunker and aluminized gear to identify damage, contamination, or maintenance needs.
- Complete thorough rental equipment evaluations to determine if items are suitable for continued rental use or require cleaning, repair, or removal from inventory.
- Assist with adding new gear and equipment into the rental inventory system, ensuring accurate data entry, labeling, and proper organization for tracking and accountability.
- Maintain accurate rental equipment inventory records and support inventory control processes, including tracking availability, location, and condition of all rental gear.
- Work closely with the Rental Manager to address inventory discrepancies, equipment maintenance needs, and rental availability.
- Coordinate with cleaning, inspection, and repair departments to ensure rental gear is properly serviced and returned to ready-for-use condition.
- Prepare rental gear for deployment by verifying all components are present, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining the rental storage area to ensure equipment is easily accessible, properly stored, and ready for customer needs.
- Support documentation and reporting related to rental transactions, evaluations, and inventory updates
Required Skills/Experience:
- Strong attention to detail when inspecting and evaluating bunker and aluminized gear for condition, damage, or contamination.
- Ability to follow established procedures for rental check-in, check-out, documentation, and inventory tracking.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn company software systems used for inventory and rental management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple rental items.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with the Rental Manager and other departments regarding equipment status and inventory needs.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move bunker gear and equipment (typically up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Willingness to learn proper handling, inspection, and storage of firefighter PPE and related equipment.
- Prior experience with inventory, warehouse, equipment handling, or PPE processing is preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
